Working 101

After experiencing a little of the work life, I must say I like it pretty much, despite some downsides of it, but regardless, here are some tips for those who want to work or anyone who just wants to read this :p

Fun facts:
#1 I've experienced 9 jobs before
#2 I try a new job almost every holiday
#3 My longest holiday job was for 5 months (after O' levels)
#4 Which happens to be by far, my favourite job (despite being the most demanding too)
#5 I do work while I'm schooling (this is one job which I'm planning to stick to for a bit during my school term)
#6 The range of the pay I've gotten goes from $5- $12

Work + School
For students, who want to work along with school (whether because you have too much time, or need some money or for the experience), here's a tip. Find a job that is more flexible, part-time, freelance. This way, if anything crops up, eg. group projects, major assignment period, you can still work you way around as long as you plan your time well and stuff. It's not nice to excuse yourself from either work or projects. Don't work too much until you're too tired for school though, it's badddd haha.

A holiday job?
Maybe it's just me but I love working, that's not the case for school though haha. I might be a little of a workaholic. It gives me energy and makes me contented, especially after a full-day shift haha (weird). When finding a job during the holiday, here are some keywords you can use to aid your searching ( I learnt this the harder way, because I started working pretty early and there wasn't really anyone to guide me along so):

  • part-time, temporary, ad-hoc, student, flexible, freelance
  • the month you can work eg. march,
  • month (literally)- this will give you jobs that are looking for people for a month or two
  • type of work or position eg. f&b, service crew

It depends on what you want, really. Whether you wanna work more, or just short hours so you can still spend time with your loved ones or some alone time. In any case, just be more careful and avoid shady looking jobs that don't really give you the details even after you ask/ the interview (eg. job scope, payment details). Most of all, enjoy!

Sometimes or most of the time, you wouldn't find a job that you really love by the first look but don't give up just yet because sometimes. you'll end up loving it. Or just work for the experience and/or money. Anyway, good luck and all the best out there! Do share with me if you have any 'interesting' experience haha, cheers!!
